Joe Hubay and Bobbie Aiken opened the business in October 2009 after Perkinson’s Jewelers closed. Both Joe and Bobbie were associated with Perkinson’s for many years – more than 74 years of combined experience. They emphasize their old-fashioned service which makes customers feel at home. They admit they are emotionally tied to customers and want them to feel at home.
Bobbie recalls one particular occasion when she and Joe became emotionally attached to two regulars. “An older gentleman and his wife came regularly to shop for jewelry and gifts. When the husband was admitted to the hospital, his wife would stop by daily to give us medical updates. Knowing she was weary and probably hungry, we invited her to sit at the table in the showroom, and I would fix her a snack. We felt she needed a little TLC.” Joe relates similar incidents as he recalls other personal services. “We really cater to our customers,” he says. “If someone arrives at the store, but can’t – for some health reason – come in, we take items to the parking lot for them to look at then make a selection. Then, as we do for everyone, we offer exquisite gift wrapping with ribbons and hand-tied bows. We also ship gifts for our customers.”
